This statistic is absolutely frightening and should be considered an epidemic. Until I started studying automobile accidents as part of my profession I never would’ve imagined that this many people would have problems 10 years later. This study demonstrates the necessity that if you are ever involved in an auto accident that you get an examination done to determine any possible injury that you may have sustained, whether or not you are aware of it.
Insurance companies have read all of these studies
The American insurance industry knows full well about the long-term effects of automobile accidents. They have experts that read all the literature. As a business decision it is in their best interest to get you to settle as quickly as you can. I personally had an insurance company call up my patient after the second visit and offer them settlement. The patient was working a low paying job and the insurance company offered them $1000 to settle on the spot. My patient took the offer and settled. When I asked the patient why they settled when they were still having pain the patient simply said they wanted the money to be able to buy a new TV. My question to you would simply be what is your health worth in the long run?
